my grandmother came over for dinner today and since she doesn’t like anything cold, I decided to make a warm dessert. When I think of a warm dessert, the first thought that comes to my mind is…molten chocolate cake! okay, that’s not what this post is about.
But! the second thing that comes to my mind is a warm apple cake. Especially when it is served with ice cream, this dessert is one to die for. I have been a follower of food52 and saw this post recently. It is a really easy recipe and the thing that took me the longest was peeling the apples, since I’m not so proficient with the knife :P but other than that, this recipe took me no longer than 20 minutes to go from raw ingredients to batter. Best part is, it doesn’t require any special machinery, just a whisk, a spatula and a few bowls.
I knew that this recipe would be a good one when my timer rang and I opened the oven door. The rush of hot air filled with a strong apple scent rushed to my face and ahhhh…. it smelled so delicious I felt like I could taste it already!
This apple cake is best served warm with ice cream. Today, I had mine with coconut ice cream from daily scoop and it was so so so delicious!
I am into simple recipes lately…taking a break from the decadent and time consuming recipes. It’s a breath of fresh air really, to be able to use just a couple of bowls and to whip something up quickly, and most importantly, to be able to start baking at 6pm and still get a sumptuous dessert out. Ahhh, the joys of a few simple ingredients :)
More recipes like this to come, i promise!
